In My Love
Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Read this Gospel passage aloud to the family
John 15:9-11- Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.”
(Parent) Reread this part a few times aloud
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.”

In these Gospel passages, Jesus has been telling His disciples to “remain” in Him and in His love. The word “remain” that Jesus is using means abide or take up residence. What Jesus is asking His disciples to do is to “live in Me” and “make Me your home.” Pretend for a moment that God’s love is an actual house and that we live there: each morning we wake up in God’s love; we prepare our day in God’s love; we eat, dress, talk, read, work, play, all in God’s love; we return every evening to God’s love; we find our rest and peace in God’s love; we are most genuinely ourselves in God’s love…
God is inviting us to be “at home” in Him and His love. He wants us to live our whole life in His love. We will do this if we follow His Commandments. Is there any Commandment we are lazy in following? It could be keeping us from great, great joy.
As a family, pray a portion of the Rosary together (very short if children are young) reflecting on the Scripture passage above. (Optional: allow a brief time for discussion or questions from children concerning their thoughts and prayer.)
Reminder for Parents: Pier is just meant to be a jumping off point. The real goal is that you pray & eventually use the fruits of your personal prayer as the content of your family’s prayer. Duc in altum.
